There are nearly one million people in jail in the United States for non-violent activities related to the use, possession, cultivation, transportation or sale of marijuana. The purpose of this site is to make available a place for everyone who supports the idea of Nojailforpot to sign his or her name, and make it proudly public for everyone to see. The people below have taken the significant step of putting their names to this important declaration, for all the country to see.

The thought of anyone going to jail for the use, possession, cultivation of or sale of (to another adult) a plant that has grown for hundreds of thousands of years, is ridiculous. Considering it's criminalization in the first place had nothing to do with health concerns, but only greed and power. And the governments refusal to admit the laws in place are unjust and morally wrong only lends to my belief that our government is no longer "by the people, for the people".

It sickening watching good people have their lives destroyed over something as minimal as marijuana. Current marijuana policy creates and fosters a disrespect for law enforcement. I strongly urge anyone reading this to join the libertarian party, if you change your mind at the polls, then that's your right. But the libertarian party is the only political party that openly supports ending marijuana prohibition, and we need you as a member to make our voices heard. You should also join NORML at the national and local level so your voices can be heard. If every person who read this joined one of these organizations, our voices become louder, and suddenly we are not radicals, we are the majority! Current marijuana policy will become what is obviously radical and unjust compared to violent crimes that are not subject to mandatory minimums. OUR government has lied to the public (and the world) for so long about drugs that it has painted itself into a corner, as american's opinion of marijuana danger diminishes. But OUR government is not in habit of admitting mistakes or bad policy. The only way things will change is to let your politicians know that thier own constituants favor marijuana AND hemp reform. The year 2004 may be possible but it will not happen without more and more people openly speaking out for what they believe is right. P.S. Marijuana prohibition should have ended in the 70's under Carter's presidential days...20+ years later, are we ready?

End the War Against Certain Drugs!

There is simply no justification for denying people drugs they need to survive. Writer Peter McWilliams, for example, would still be alive today were it not for this draconian practice. Let the doctors decide what drugs their patients need and leave the government out of it!

The only real marijuana crimes are committed by the police and the politicians who perpetuate the unjust marijuana laws

We MUST get back our constitutional form of government! They are WAY OUT OF CONTROL!! Our constitution limits their power and the people have forgotten. Wake up America, before we have no rights at all.

I was once a youth counselor for the state of North Carolina, teaching teenagers to make responsible decisions for themselves. I have to admit, I was very good at my job; the day before I was arrested for possession of less than 1/2 ounce, my supervisor called me into his office and told me how impressed he was with my work and with the message I was passing along to the kids (think for yourself). Even though i have been using cannabis regularly for the past 12 years, including daily use while employed as a counselor (off-duty and responsibly of course), after being arrested I was suddenly a seen as a failure and unworthy of retaining my job. now I fix cars instead of people, and i still get high. I am still active in the movement (the legalization movement as well as the think for yourself movement) and I refuse to compromise my principles. I wish these old rotted drug warriors would hurry up and die off so our country can move forward in this critical social policy. KEEP THE FIGHT ALIVE!
